Project Brief
Based on the Punjabi folklore Mirza Sahibaan, Mirzya revolves around the star-crossed lovers Mohnish and Suchitra. This was Mayuri’s foray into film choreography, which won her a nomination for Star Guild Awards for Best Choreography.
Concept
Choreography for this movie was treated differently, where Mayuri worked with mood-boards to articulate the emotions of scenes, songs and the storyline. It is quite unusual when the choreography design is made an intrinsic part of the whole storyline; and perhaps because of this, her first attempt at Bollywood choreography won her the prestigious Star Guild nomination.
